Promoting close cooperation between Vietnam and France

VOV.VN - Vietnamese Ambassador to France Dinh Toan Thang held a working session with Torino Panetta, mayor of Choisy-le-Roi in the town’s conference hall on February 17 to discuss the possibility of strengthening cooperation between the two sides.

They examined preparations for a decentralized cooperation conference between the two countries to be held in Vietnam’s Hanoi capital later this year.

They also touched upon the French city’s engagement in activities to mark 50 years of the Vietnam-France diplomacy and 10 years of their strategic partnership in 2023.

Torino Panetta expressed his regret that the COVID-19 outbreak has stalled the relationship between the city and Vietnam in general and with its twin sister locality - Hanoi’s Dong Da district.

He expressed his hope that the epidemic would soon be brought under control completely so that the two sides could resume cultural and economic exchanges.

For his part, Ambassador Thang thanked the French city for providing support to Vietnam during the past struggle for national liberation and the current cause of national development.

Choisy-le-Roi is not only a city that has developed close ties with Vietnam, but is also a place that holds memories of the Paris Agreement negotiations that has gone down in national history, said the diplomat.

He said his working trip to the town presented an opportunity for the two sides to seek ways to promote bilateral cooperation, as well as to maintain the time-honoured friendship between the two countries.
