Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh arrives in South Africa for G20 Summit
VOV.VN - A high-ranking Vietnamese delegation led by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, arrived at O.R Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, beginning his official trip to attend the G20 Summit and engage in bilateral meetings in South Africa.
The visit is made at the invitation of South African President Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa, who is the G20 Chair for 2025.
Prime Minister Chinh and his entourage were welcomed at the airport by officials of the South African Government, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Protocol Department. Vietnamese Ambassador to South Africa Hoang Sy Cuong, along with embassy staff, were also present.
This is the second consecutive year that Vietnam has been invited to the G20 Summit, underscoring Vietnam's rising international stature and influence. This also marks the sixth time Vietnam has participated in the G20 Summit, following Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s participation in the previous summit in Brazil.
Taking place in Johannesburg from November 21 – 23, the G20 Summit in South Africa is an opportunity for Vietnam to affirm its foreign policy and contribute to the establishment of a fair and sustainable international economic order.
Prime Minister Chinh will share important assessments and proposals, focusing on promoting cooperation in key strategic areas such as green transition, digital transformation, innovation, strategic infrastructure development, and high-quality human resources.
Through these proposals at the Summit, Vietnam continues to reinforce its commitment to sustainable development and its active contribution to global peace and stability.
During his stay, PM Chinh will also engage in bilateral activities in South Africa.
Vietnam and South Africa established diplomatic relations in 1993. South Africa is Vietnam's largest trade partner in Africa, with total bilateral trade reaching US$1.72 billion in 2024. Both countries are working to enhance cooperation in various sectors, including trade, investment, and sustainable development.
