President Tamas Sulyok lauds Hungary – Vietnam relations
VOV.VN - President Tamas Sulyok highly appreciated the positive developments in the traditional friendship and comprehensive partnership between Hungary and Vietnam, during his recent reception for Vietnamese Ambassador Bui Le Thai.
Ambassador Bui Le Thai presented his credentials to President Tamas Sulyok in Budapest on January 14.
Sulyok congratulated Thai on his appointment as the Vietnamese Ambassador to Hungary, and wished the ambassador success in his tenure, aiming to elevate bilateral relations to new heights in politics-diplomacy, economics-trade, education, and people-to-people exchanges.
He noted that 2025 is a special year as it marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries (1950-2025).
The president extended greetings to President Luong Cuong and other senior leaders of Vietnam.
Ambassador Thai for his part respectfully conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from President Luong Cuong and other senior Vietnamese leaders to President Sulyok and his spouse. He emphasized that Vietnam highly values and wishes to further deepen the traditional friendship and comprehensive partnership between the two countries.
Thai reviewed key milestones in the bilateral relationship since it was upgraded to a comprehensive partnership in 2018, during the visit of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to Hungary.
He affirmed his commitment to making every effort to deepen bilateral relations, making them increasingly practical and effective, corresponding to the potential and strengths of both countries.
As Vietnam and Hungary celebrate 70 years of diplomacy this year, the ambassador respectfully requested that President Sulyok and Hungarian authorities pay special attention to implementing the agreements reached at the highest level between the two countries.
He urged Hungary to soon organize the 10th session of the Vietnam-Hungary Intergovernmental Committee on Economic Cooperation.
He also requested Hungary to consider recognizing the Vietnamese community in Hungary as the 14th minority, facilitating the community’s full integration into their host society.
Ambassador Thai also extended an invitation from President Luong Cuong for President Tamas Sulyok to visit Vietnam at an appropriate time. President Sulyok accepted the invitation and expressed his intention to arrange a visit to Vietnam soon.
