President Lee Jae-myung’s Vietnam visit grabs Korean headlines
VOV.VN - Media coverage in the Republic of Korea (RoK) has closely followed the state visit to Vietnam by President Lee Jae-myung, with developments reported in detail and drawing strong public attention.
A key focus of reporting was the talks between President Lee and Vietnamese Party General Secretary and President To Lam, which were widely highlighted as the central event of the visit.
RoK media outlets cited the leaders as agreeing to strengthen cooperation, particularly in energy security and supply stability, amid global supply chain disruptions linked to tensions in the Middle East.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the two sides also set a target of raising bilateral trade to US$150 billion by 2030. The news agency noted a series of cooperation agreements signed by businesses from both countries, describing them as opening up new opportunities for bilateral economic engagement.
Public opinion in the RoK also welcomed commitments by the top Vietnamese leader to ensure the safety of the Korean community in Vietnam, reflecting confidence in the host country’s investment and living environment.
Major Korean newspapers on April 23 further reported on a separate meeting between President Lee and Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, during which the RoK leader expressed a desire to deepen cooperation in key growth-driving sectors such as nuclear energy, transport infrastructure and energy.
He also voiced hope of jointly creating a new “Miracle of the Red River,” echoing past economic success stories and signaling ambition for a new phase of bilateral development.
Observers and media commentary in the RoK expressed confidence that the visit would inject fresh momentum into bilateral ties, aligning with remarks by Prime Minister Hung that the trip could serve as a catalyst for further strengthening relations in the years ahead.
