Premier Li Qiang’s Vietnam visit achieves positive results: Chinese spokesperson

Mao told the press on October 14 that the visit highlights the strategic significance of building a bilateral community for a shared future, reaffirms principled positions on major issues, and helps to deepen comprehensive strategic cooperation between the two countries.

According to the diplomat, both sides agreed that the development of each country presents an opportunity for the other and serves as a positive factor for regional and global development. They stressed the need to approach bilateral relations from a strategic and long-term perspective, firmly support each other in advancing socialism in their respective countries and explore their own unique paths to modernization.

They vowed to effectively implement the important consensus reached between the top leaders of both parties and countries, while promoting the construction of a community for a shared future with even more tangible outcomes.

Both sides also agreed to enhance coordination and cooperation within multilateral mechanisms, actively deploy cooperation in China’s three major global initiatives, and jointly support a multipolar world and comprehensive and inclusive economic globalization.

China and Vietnam will strengthen the strategic connection of development, by synchronously promoting ‘hard connectivity’ in railways, highways, and border infrastructure, as well as ‘soft connectivity’ in smart customs, to firmly support the facilitation of trade and investment, and maintain stable and smooth supply chains, said Mao.

The spokesperson also said, both sides would actively explore pilot projects for establishing cross-border economic cooperation zones, expand collaboration in emerging fields such as information technology, new energy, digital economy, and critical minerals, and successfully organize activities to celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the Vietnam-China Year of Cultural Exchange in 2025.

Premier Li Qiang paid an official visit to Vietnam on October 12-14 at the invitation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

During his stay, Li held talks with Chinh and met with other senior Vietnamese leaders, including Party General Secretary and State President To Lam, and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man.

He also attended a Vietnam-China business forum and witnessed the exchange of 10 cooperation documents between the two countries in the fields of transport connectivity, customs, public welfare, education, agricultural product trade, media, and banking.
