PM urges harmonised approach to resolving US trade concerns
VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a meeting in Hanoi on June 28 with relevant ministries and agencies to continue reviewing and addressing issues of concern raised by the United States, particularly in the areas of trade and tariffs.

The meeting, which was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien, and leaders of other relevant agencies, was held after Vietnam and the US recently concluded the third round of negotiations on a reciprocal trade agreement.
After hearing reports and opinions, the Prime Minister praised the proactive, open-minded, and responsible efforts of ministries and sectors in coordinating and addressing issues raised by the US side. He held that, despite the rapidly evolving and complex global and regional landscape, Vietnam remains firmly committed to its economic growth target of 8% or higher this year, while maintaining macroeconomic stability, controlling inflation, ensuring major economic balances, and improving the material and spiritual well-being of the people.
To achieve this goal, the Prime Minister called on ministries and sectors to further strengthen cooperation with key partners, including the US, based on mutual respect, understanding, sincerity, and mutual benefit. He affirmed that Vietnam is always ready to listen, engage in dialogue, and consider legitimate proposals from the US side in accordance with international practices, the laws of both countries, and bilateral agreements already reached.
The Prime Minister stressed that in resolving trade and tariff issues, it is crucial to uphold the principle of harmonised interests and shared risks, ensuring the benefit of both sides, their businesses, and citizens. In cases where legal or institutional challenges arise or matters exceed existing authority, relevant agencies must engage in dialogue, propose viable solutions, and report to the appropriate level for review and decision-making.
He emphasized that these efforts not only serve Vietnam’s socio-economic development goals but also help promote sustainable, equitable, and effective economic, trade, and investment relations between Vietnam and the US which corresponds with the country’s strategy to develop an independent and self-reliant economy integrated deeply and effectively with the global economy.
