PM Hun Sen in Vietnam for 45th anniversary of search for national salvation

VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh welcomed his Cambodian counterpart Hun Sen on June 20 to visit the Loc Tan open border crossing in Binh Phuoc province, a site where the latter entered Vietnam 45 years ago to seek ways for national salvation.

Holding discussions with local people, PM Sen expressed his gratitude to the Party, State, and people of Vietnam, specifically the people of village No. 9 of Loc Ninh district who had taken care of and assisted him in the early days of his search for national salvation whilst he worked to develop armed forces capable of overthrowing the genocidal regime of former Cambodian dictator Pol Pot.

The Cambodian PM outlined that without the vital help of Vietnamese people, there might not be a PM Hun Sen or modern Cambodia today.

According to the Cambodian PM, the ties between the two countries have deepened across all fields, including trade, investment, tourism, and cultural exchanges over the past 45 years. He went on to express his belief that this relationship will be, “forever green, forever stable.”

The two PMs then took time to plant trees and visit a monument at Loc Tan open border crossing in Binh Phuoc province.

The same day PM Chinh attended a ceremony marking PM Sen’s search for national salvation from Pol Pot’s regime 45 years ago.
