PM Hun Sen extends lunar New Year greetings to Vietnamese leaders

VOV.VN - Chairman of the Cambodian People’s Party and Prime Minister Hun Sen on January 29 phoned Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, extending his greetings to the Party leader and other Vietnamese leaders on Vietnam’s lunar New Year holiday.

The two leaders congratulated their respective countries on the great achievements the Parties, States and peoples of Vietnam and Cambodia have recorded in recent times, especially in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring social security and economic development.

They expressed their pleasure at the substantial development of the relationship between the two Parties and two countries, contributing to maintaining political stability and socio-economic development in each country, bringing practical benefits to the two peoples.

Despite difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, they said the two sides have maintained regular high-level contact and exchanges in various forms, including the successful organization of a meeting between the three leaders of the three ruling parties of Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, the State visit to Cambodia by President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, and online talks by the leaders of the two Parties and two countries.

The leaders agreed that the two parties and two countries should continue to promote and expand bilateral cooperation in various areas, including politics, security, national defence, economics and connectivity, while supporting each other at international and regional forums.

The same day, CPP President and Prime Minister Hun Sen also phoned State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

Meanwhile, Cambodia’s National Assembly Chairman Heng Samrin and Senate President Say Chhum sent messages of congratulations to National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue on Vietnam’s traditional lunar New Year holiday.

They wished Vietnamese people happiness, peace and prosperity on the traditional Lunar New Year.
