Party official meets leaders of India Communist leaders
VOV.VN - Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and head of the Central Policy and Strategy Commission Nguyen Thanh Nghi met with General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (CPI) Doraisamy Raja in New Delhi on the evening of May 6.
At the meeting, Raja expressed deep respect for President Ho Chi Minh, and congratulated Vietnam on its continued achievements in national development and renewal.
The CPI leader emphasised that India-Vietnam relations have continued to strengthen over time, and expected that the newly upgraded “Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership” would open broader opportunities for substantive cooperation across multiple sectors based on shared vision and strategic convergence.
Nghi, for his part, highlighted the long-standing traditional friendship between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Communist Party of India, noting that the relationship has been nurtured by the Parties, States and peoples of both countries over many decades.
He affirmed that Vietnam always remembers the valuable support and assistance provided by the Communist Party of India and the Indian people during Vietnam’s struggle for national independence as well as in its current development process.
Nghi also expressed confidence that, under the leadership of Doraisamy Raja, the Communist Party of India would continue enhancing its role and influence in India’s political landscape for the goal of a prosperous and equitable India.
On this occasion, Nghi briefed the Indian side on the outcomes of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam as well as the recent high-level talks between Vietnamese and Indian leaders.
He noted that the two countries had agreed to elevate bilateral ties to an “Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership” based on the principles of shared vision, strategic convergence and substantive cooperation, aiming to deepen relations in a more practical and strategic manner in the new context.
Welcoming the positive development of ties between the two Parties in recent years, Nghi proposed that both sides continue expanding exchanges of experience and educating younger generations of Party members about the tradition of friendship, solidarity and mutual support between the two Parties.
He said such efforts would contribute positively to bilateral relations as well as to the broader goals of justice, democracy and sustainable global development.
Also on May 6, Politburo member Nguyen Thanh Nghi, who was accompanying Party General Secretary and President To Lam on a state visit to India, met with Arun Kumar, Politburo member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M).
Arun Kumar congratulated Vietnam on the successful organisation of the 14th National Party Congress and said he has closely followed Vietnam’s renewal process and admired the country’s achievements over the past four decades. He expressed confidence in Vietnam’s determination to realise its ambitious development goals in the new era.
In response, Nghi highly appreciated the Communist Party of India (Marxist) for consistently upholding the fundamental principles of communism, and believed that, under the leadership of General Secretary Marian Alexander Baby, the party would continue strengthening its influence and position in India’s political system.
