Party leader welcomes Vietnam – China cooperation orientations

VOV.VN - Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has highly appreciated the positive development in the Vietnam – China relations in recent times, partly contributed by the effective cooperation between border localities of the two countries.

Receiving Wang Ning, Secretary of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee in Hanoi on March 28, Trong welcomed the success of the recent third conference of Party secretaries of Ha Giang, Lao Cai, Lai Chau and Dien Bien provinces of Vietnam and Yunnan province of China, that set out future cooperation orientations between the two sides.

He expressed hope that Yunnan and Vietnamese border localities will take the lead in realizing the common perceptions by the two countries’ top leaders, and concretizing the joint statement released during the Vietnamese Party General Secretary’s official visit to China late last year, contributing to promoting the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two Parties and States.

Secretary Wang Ning for his part lauded Vietnam’s socio-economic development achievements, as well as the positive development in the China-Vietnam relations, especially Party General Secretary Trong’s China visit late last year.

He briefed his host on the substantial cooperation between Yunnan and Vietnamese localities over the years, and affirmed Yunnan would ramp up mutually beneficial cooperation with Vietnamese border localities, especially in the fields of economy - trade, agriculture and tourism, while jointly managing well the common border between the two countries.

Meeting with the Chinese official the same day, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that the two sides expand mutually-beneficial cooperation focusing on making breakthroughs in economic-trade ties, road and railway transport connectivity, tourism and education.

He asked Yunnan to improve the efficiency of customs clearance for goods at border gates, import more high-quality farm produce and aquatic products from Vietnam, and create conditions for Vietnamese firms to join international trade fairs in Yunnan.

The PM urged tightening coordination in border protection and management in accordance with the three legal documents on the Vietnam-China land border and related agreements, so as to jointly build a borderline of peace, stability and development.
