Party General Secretary To Lam visits Vietnamese Embassy in DPRK
VOV.VN - Party General Secretary To Lam visited and met with officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Pyongyang on October 10, as part of his working trip to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

The General Secretary extended his kind regards and best wishes for health and happiness to the embassy staff and their families. He emphasised that the State visit, which takes place as Vietnam and the DPRK mark the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (January 31, 1950 - 2025), affirms Vietnam’s consistent policy of valuing and further developing the traditional friendship with the Party, State, and people of the DPRK.
Sharing the challenges faced by embassy staff, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, the General Secretary praised their unity, resilience, and dedication in fulfilling their diplomatic duties, contributing to the enhancement of bilateral relations.
Updating them on the situation in Vietnam, the Party leader noted that the Party has recently issued important resolutions that lay the groundwork for a new phase of national development. Among the breakthrough policies, the Party has carried out reforms in the administrative system, reorganisation of administrative units, and the building of a two-tier local government model to foster more efficient development.
In addition, Vietnam's economy continues its positive growth momentum; national defence and security are being strengthened; independence and sovereignty are firmly maintained; and political stability and public order are ensured.
These are solid foundations for Vietnam to pursue its targets of achieving over 8% GDP growth by 2025 and double-digit growth during the 2026–2030 period. Currently, the entire Party and political system are focusing on organising Party congresses at all levels, preparing for the 14th National Party Congress - a key milestone in the country’s development journey.
To meet the demand of national development and enhance Vietnam-DPRK Korea cooperation, the General Secretary called on all embassy staff to maintain unity, responsibility, and creativity to excel in diplomatic missions. He encouraged them to act as a bridge between the two countries and promote meaningful exchanges such as academic cooperation, cultural and sports delegations, and people-to-people activities.
On this occasion, General Secretary To Lam attended the inauguration ceremony of a statue of President Ho Chi Minh on the grounds of the Vietnamese Embassy.
Also present was Cho Yong Won, member of the Presidium of the Politburo, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, and Head of the Organisation Department of the Workers’ Party of Korea.
General Secretary Lam and the Korean official jointly cut the ribbon to unveil the statue and laid flowers in tribute to President Ho Chi Minh — a great leader of the Vietnamese nation and a visionary who, alongside President Kim Il Sung, laid the foundation for the traditional Vietnam-DPRK friendship in the mid-20th century.
Ambassador Le Ba Vinh said that the inauguration of the President Ho Chi Minh statue is a source of great pride not only for the Vietnamese people but also for the people of the DPRK. Throughout the construction process, the embassy received strong support and favourable conditions from local authorities and the Korean people.
