Party General Secretary To Lam begins official visit to Finland
VOV.VN - A high-ranking Vietnamese delegation led by Party General Secretary To Lam and his spouse Ngo Phuong Ly left Hanoi on October 20 for an official visit to the Finland at the invitation of Finnish President Alexander Stubb.

The Party leader is being accompanied by a number of Party officials and leaders of ministries in charge of national defence, foreign affairs, public security, science-technology, industry and trade, and agriculture and environment.
This is the highest-level visit by a Vietnamese leader to Finland since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1973. The visit demonstrates Vietnam’s strong commitment to strengthening the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.
According to the Vietnamese Ambassador to Finland, Pham Thi Thanh Binh, the visit marks a new era of cooperation between Vietnam and Finland, an era of innovation, knowledge, and green development. It is expected to enhance political trust, promote people-to-people exchanges, and foster business connections, thereby laying the foundation for the development of a strategic partnership in the coming years.
Vietnam and Finland established diplomatic relations in 1973. Over the past more than five decades, the relationship between the two countries has seen positive developments. Currently, there remains significant room to further strengthen cooperation, especially in areas such as trade and investment, science and technology, innovation, education and training, agriculture and environment, information and communication technology, semiconductors, and tourism.
In recent meetings with senior Vietnamese leaders, the Finnish leaders have affirmed that Vietnam is a key partner in ASEAN and that Finland will actively promote Vietnam’s relations with the European Union (EU).
