Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino visits Temple of Literature in Hanoi
VOV.VN - Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino and his spouse, Maricel Cohen De Mulino, visited the Temple of Literature in Hanoi on October 6 as part of their official visit to Vietnam.
During the visit, President Mulino and his spouse learned about the site’s history and architecture, viewed the Doctoral Stelae and visited the worshipping area dedicated to Chu Van An, a revered Vietnamese educator. The Panamanian leader also beat the ceremonial drum and wrote in the site's visitors' book.
Built in 1070 under the reign of King Ly Thanh Tong, the Temple of Literature is widely regarded as a symbol of Vietnam’s long-standing tradition of learning and respect for education and teachers. It also houses Quoc Tu Giam, regarded as Vietnam’s first national university. Its 82 Doctoral Stelae, erected between 1484 and 1780, were recognised by UNESCO as a Memory of the World documentary heritage in 2010.
President José Raúl Mulino and his spouse are making his first official visit to Vietnam, from October 5-8, at the invitation of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President To Lam and his spouse. The visit is the highest-level exchange between the two countries in nearly 15 years and follows the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Panama diplomatic relations in 2025.
The four-day visit is expected to provide fresh momentum to bilateral cooperation, particularly in trade, investment, maritime transport, logistics and people-to-people exchanges.
