VOV.VN - A high-ranking delegation of the National Assembly of Vietnam led by National Asssembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man returned to Hanoi on April 9 morning, concluding their successful working trip to Uzbekistan where they also attended the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU-150).

At the IPU-150 meeting, Man proposed several directions for parliaments to enhance international cooperation, share experiences, and support each other in formulating development policies and effectively addressing current challenges.
Emphasizing that no country or society can achieve sustainable development without the people-centred approach, he called on all parliamentarians and nations to act more strongly together to build a just, prosperous, and sustainable world.
Man also held bilateral meetings with the President and Secretary General of the IPU, as well as with the Presidents of the parliaments of various countries, to discuss measures to strengthen cooperation between Vietnam and the IPU, and between Vietnam and other IPU member countries.
During his official visit to Uzbekistan, Man met with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and held talks with Senate President Tanzila Narbaeva and Lower House Speaker Nuriddin Ismoilov. They exchanged views on various issues and shared their visions for bilateral cooperation. They highly appreciated the positive developments in Vietnam – Uzbekistan relations in recent times, emphasizing the significant contributions of the two Parliaments in this process.
Both sides agreed to further strengthen political dialogue and exchanges at all levels, and to continue coordinating closely and supporting each other at multilateral forums. They also agreed to enhance cooperation between legislative bodies, share experiences in law enforcement oversight, and address key national issues.
On Vietnam-Uzbekistan economic and trade cooperation, the leaders maintained there is still much untapped potential. They consented to further exchange information on policies and markets, facilitate opportunities for businesses from both countries to engage in investment and trade promotion activities, and boost cooperation in energy, oil and gas, and other sectors where both sides have potential and demand.
In Tashkent, Man also attended a Vietnam-Uzbekistan business forum, met Vietnamese expatriates and visited Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies.
