Liechtenstein Prime Minister Brigitte Haas to visit Vietnam in mid-October
VOV.VN - Liechtenstein Prime Minister Brigitte Haas will pay an official visit to Vietnam from October 17 to 19 at the invitation of Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung.
The visit takes place at a time when the two countries look to strengthen bilateral ties and expand economic cooperation.
Vietnam and Liechtenstein established diplomatic relations on July 2, 2008. Their cooperation has focused on developing economic links and identifying opportunities for trade and investment.
In June 2026, the Vietnam Trade Office in Bern and a representative of Liechtenstein’s Embassy Office discussed ways to strengthen business connections and promote investment in both markets. Potential areas of cooperation include financial services, high-tech manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, medical supplies, dental products and tourism.
Both sides also highlighted the importance of trade and investment promotion, business missions and stronger connections between enterprises in the two countries.
A further development came on July 2, 2026, when Vietnam and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) announced the conclusion of negotiations on a free trade agreement. The EFTA comprises Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein.
The EFTA FTA is expected to create additional opportunities for trade and investment, improve market access and strengthen economic links between Vietnam and EFTA member states.
The two countries have also begun negotiations on a double taxation agreement. The first round of negotiations was launched in December 2025 during a working trip to Liechtenstein by Deputy Minister of Finance Cao Anh Tuan. The agreement is intended to provide greater tax certainty for businesses and support cross-border investment.
Two-way trade between Vietnam and Liechtenstein remains modest, at US$9.8 million in 2025. Liechtenstein ranks 86th among 153 foreign investors in Vietnam, with an investment project in Dong Nai City focusing on processing and manufacturing.
Vietnam attaches importance to developing friendly and cooperative relations with Liechtenstein. It desires to work alongside the European state to fully tap their cooperation potential in the areas of the latter’s strength such as industry high-tech manufacturing, financial services, digital assets, green finance, banking and innovation in line with Vietnam’s development needs.
Prime Minister Haas’s visit is expected to provide an opportunity for the two sides to review bilateral relations and discuss ways to strengthen cooperation in the areas of shared interest.
