Japanese PM Shiregu Ishiba begins Vietnam visit

VOV.VN - Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and his spouse arrived in Hanoi on April 27, beginning a two-day official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his spouse.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son along with other leaders from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and representatives from the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam, welcomed the Japanese PM, his spouse, and the visiting delegation at Noi Bai International Airport.

This is the first visit to Vietnam by a Japanese Prime Minister after the two countries upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in November 2023.

Vietnam is Ishiba’s first stopover and will occupy most of the time in his Southeast Asian tour from April 27 to 30. After Vietnam, he will visit the Philippines.

According to Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Ito Naoki, Vietnam is a top priority in Japan’s foreign policy. This visit is expected not only to strengthen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries but also to deepen personal ties between Ishiba and Vietnamese leaders.

The visit takes place at a time when Vietnam and Japan continue to strengthen their comprehensive and substantive ties across multiple sectors.

During his stay, the Japanese PM is scheduled to hold talks with the Vietnamese PM, meet with other senior Party and State leaders, and participate in a series of important activities.
