FM Bui Thanh Son meets Indonesian President Widodo in Jakarta
VOV.VN - Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son who is in Jakarta for the fourth meeting of the Vietnam – Indonesia Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC) paid a courtesy visit to President Joko Widodo on July 20.
Widodo welcomed Son’s visit for the JCBC meeting, which he said demonstrates the two countries’ determination to bolster their strategic partnership that will turn 10 in 2023.
He warmly congratulated Vietnam on recording important achievements in COVID-19 control and post-pandemic economic recovery as well as on successfully hosting the 31st SEA Games in May.
Son conveyed Vietnamese leaders’ greetings to Widodo and affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to and wishes to further develop the strategic partnership with Indonesia.
He also expressed his belief that Indonesia would successfully assume the role of the G-20 Chairman, and successfully implement the ‘Indonesia Vision 2045’ to become a developed economy by 2045 to mark its 100th founding anniversary.
He briefed his host on the outcome of the JCBC meeting and expected the President would support the two sides in removing barriers and promoting trade growth in a more balanced direction.
Son also highly appreciated the cooperation between the two countries at regional and international forums, and affirmed that Vietnam supports Indonesia in successfully assuming the role of ASEAN Chair in 2023.
The Indonesian President suggested that the two sides consider building an Action Programme for the Vietnam – Indonesia Strategic Partnerships for 2024-2028, aiming to raise bilateral trade turnover to US$15 billion by 2028, while further promoting economic - trade – investment cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges.
He also conveyed his greetings to the senior leaders of Vietnam.
