Exhibition shows sound friendship, solidarity and co-operation with Laos
VOV.VN - The great friendship, special solidarity, and all-around co-operation that exists between the country and Laos is being shown via photos, documents, and objects at an exhibition which opened on July 18 at the Vietnam National Museum of History in Hanoi.
In attendance at the opening ceremony was Politburo member, permanent member of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee's Secretariat and Vice President of Laos Bounthong Chitmany. He was joined by Politburo member and President of the Laos Front for National Construction Central Committee Sinlavong Khutphaythoun and Secretary of the LPRP Central Committee and Vice President of the Laos National Assembly Sounthon Xayachak.
Others in attendance at the event include Politburo member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh, Secretary of the CPV Central Committee and Chairman of the CPV Central Committee's Information and Education Nguyen Trong Nghia, and Secretary of the CPV Central Committee and Chief the Office of the CPV Central Committee Le Minh Hung.
The function was co-organised by the Party Central Committee’s Office and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, with the occasion featuring approximately 500 documents, photos, and items.
The main display area consists of three main parts, with the first introducing the history of the joint relationship which was formed as part of the national construction and protection causes the two countries.
The second part highlights the establishment of diplomatic relations and the tightening of the combat alliance between both sides during the 1962 to 1977 period.
On September 5, 1962, the nation and Laos officially established diplomatic ties. Following this, July 18, 1977, saw the two countries sign a bilateral Treaty of Amity and Cooperation, thereby marking a new development stage that transitioned from solidarity in the fight against the common enemy to friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive co-operation in the cause of national construction, defence, and development, under the leadership of the CPV and LPRP.
The third part primarily focuses on the promotion of the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive co-operation in the process of national construction and development in the two countries from 1977 to the present.
In 1986, the two Parties and States initially began their national renewal processes, which has since seen comprehensive co-operation over the past 35 years bring about tremendous achievements in terms of contributions to expediting their growth and integration into the region and across the world.
The event is due to run until October 18.
