Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai on July 22 in Tra Vinh province inspected the Duyen Hai power plant project and a shipyard by the Hau River.
The Duyen Hai industrial centre will be built in Mu U and Lang Chao hamlets in Dan Thanh commune and Con Trung hamlet, Truong Long Hoa commune, Duyen Hai district in Tra Vinh province.
The centre will sit on a site of over 641 hectares and will include factories and support services, a port and 3 power plants with an output of 4,400MW and an investment capital of US$5 billion.
The construction of the ship by the Hau River is part of a national project to build vessels of 20,000 tonnes to increase the import and export of goods in the Mekong River Delta to 21-22 million tonnes per year. The ship is scheduled to be launched in the fourth quarter of this year.
Mr. Hai emphasised these two projects are essential to the power and marine industries. Therefore, the Ministry of Transport should work with the Electricity of Vietnam Corporation and the Vietnam Maritime Department to clearly define influential factors in both projects.
