Deputy Prime Minister Truong Vinh Trong, who chairs the National Committee for AIDS Control, has paid a six-day trip to Holland under a project funded by the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS.

During his stay until April 25, Mr. Trong held working sessions with the Foreign Ministry, Ministry of Health, Social Welfare and Sports, the National Institute on AIDS Control and the Dutch Centre on Sexual Workers’ Health. He also visited a camp for drug addicts and the Amsterdam Health Centre.

Host and guest exchanged views on the economic downturn’s impact on social affairs, policies on HIV/AIDS control and community health care as well as measures to promote cooperation in HIV/AIDS control. They also exchanged experiences in drug detoxification with Methadone.

Mr. Trong met with the Minister of Health, Social Welfare and Sports, A. Klink, to discuss measures on cooperation in health care and social affaires.

He also paid a field trip to the Deltaworks dyke system in Neeltje Jans and heard a presentation on water management in the Netherlands.

The Deputy PM had a working session with the Ministry of Transport, Community Projects and Water Management to learn from Holland experiences in flood and storm control and in coping with climate change.
