Mr. Nhan spoke highly of the cooperation between the National Committee of UNESCO Vietnam and the Vietnam Man and Biosphere National Committee, and localities, in conducting activities to maintain eight UNESCO-recognised biosphere reserves in the country.

Vietnam’s biosphere reserves, including Kien Giang, Cat Ba, Cu Lao Cham and Can Gio, are attracting a large number of investors and foreign tourists, he said.

Katherine Muller Marin said UNSECO has selected Cat Ba biosphere reserve as a laboratory model for educating sustainable development.

UNESCO is supporting Vietnam to complete the dossier on Cat Tien National Park to submit to UNESCO for recognition as one of the world’s natural heritage sites, she said.
