Deputy PM Ho Duc Phoc promotes economic ties during US visit
VOV.VN - Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc has had a host of meetings with US lawmakers, businesses, and experts to boost bilateral trade and investment, calling for the removal of tariffs on Vietnamese goods and a sustainable trade deal.

As part of his working visit to the US, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc held meetings with US Senators as well as various organizations and businesses on April 8 and 9.
Meeting with Senator Bill Hagerty (Republican – Tennessee), Senator Steve Daines (Republican – Montana), along with representatives of multiple US organizations and companies, Deputy PM Phoc appreciated the US Congress’s and the Senators’ support for Vietnam–US relations.
He showed great joy at the positive developments in bilateral ties following the establishment of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and highlighted the significance of 2025, marking 30 years since the normalization of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
Regarding bilateral economic and trade relations, Phuoc said that the two economies are mutually complementary. Vietnam does not compete with key US exports and imports many high-tech products and services from the US. He emphasized that Vietnam has proactively tackled concerns raised by the US side.
He called on the US Congress to continue its support and advocate for the removal of tariff measures on Vietnamese goods. He also proposed that both nations engage in negotiations and dialogue to soon reach a long-term and sustainable bilateral trade agreement that benefits people and businesses.

The two Senators recalled their fond memories of visiting Vietnam and expressed their hope that the bilateral relationship will continue to grow and flourish, making positive contributions to peace and stability in the region and the world. They hailed the nation’s proactive approach to dealing with tariff issues with the US.
They affirmed their support for Vietnam–US trade relations based on the broader strategic interests of both sides, and expressed confidence that the two countries will soon begin negotiations and identify solutions to advance stable and mutually beneficial economic and trade ties in the near future.
During his time in the US, Deputy PM Ho Duc Phoc also held meetings with groups of scholars, intellectuals, and major US and Vietnamese enterprises. He witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between Vietjet Aviation Joint Stock Company and US-based Air Finance.
