The ministers examined preparations for the 15th ASEAN summit to be held in Thailand from October 23-25 and a number of important issues relating to ASEAN’s external relations.

The same day, ASEAN ministers had a meeting with UN General Secretary Ban Ki-moon and UN General Assembly chairman Ali Treki. They discussed measures to increase ties between the two organisations and exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern.

They agreed that the third ASEAN-UN summit will be held in Vietnam in 2010.
