Deputy FM calls for SNCF's stronger coordination in railway industry development

Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stands ready to support and create favourable conditions for international partners, businesses and organisations in effectively implementing projects in Vietnam, contributing to the enhancement of relations between Vietnam and other countries, including France.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang made the affirmation while receiving Diego Diaz, President of SNCF International under the French National Railway Company, in Hanoi on May 7.

At the reception, Hang highlighted the positive progress in the Vietnam–France Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, noting that cooperation in railways and urban transport has produced landmark projects such as Nhon–Hanoi Station metro line and Long Bien Bridge.

Emphasising France’s strengths and reputation in the railway sector, she said cooperation between SNCF and Vietnamese agencies and partners has generated practical and tangible results, while still offering significant room for further expansion.

Informing the guest on Vietnam’s priorities in socio-economic development and transport infrastructure, the Deputy FM called on SNCF to continue close coordination in supporting Vietnam’s railway industry development, particularly in high-quality workforce training, technology transfer, experience sharing, and improving policy-making and investment management capacity.

For his part, Diaz welcomed the increasingly effective cooperation between SNCF and Vietnamese partners, saying it has contributed positively to Vietnam–France relations.

With strengths in technology, expertise, high-quality personnel and a broad international network, he affirmed SNCF’s readiness to accompany Vietnam and deepen its involvement in the country’s railway development goals, including efforts to build a modern domestic railway industry.
