At the meeting, the two sides informed each other of the two countries’ situations and international and regional issues of mutual concern. They agreed to strengthen traditional bilateral relations as the late President Ho Chi Minh and President Kaysone Phomvihane wished and boost multifaceted cooperation under the terms of their cooperative protocol for the 2010-2014 period and cooperative plan for 2011.

Minister Douangchay Phichith expressed his pleasure at Thanh’s visit and thanked Vietnam’s Party, Government and people in general and the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) in particular for their assistance. He also hailed the success of Vietnam’s 11^th National Party Congress and said he believed the Vietnamese people will successfully implement the Congress’ Resolution under the leadership of the Party.

Thanh sincerely thanked the Lao People’s Army for supporting the VPA over the years and expressed his pleasure at the effective cooperation between the two armies and his belief that the Lao 11^th National Party Congress will be a success.
