During the meeting, Minister Thanh congratulated Mr Sychaleun on his appointment as the new ambassador to Vietnam.

He stressed that the Vietnam People’s Army is willing to receive trainees from the Lao army to further the revolutionary cause of both countries.

Thanh said the defence ties between the two countries have developed well over the past years. He recalled the joint struggles of the Vietnamese and Lao armies, in which the two armies and peoples fought side-by-side against the same enemy and made many sacrifices for the cause of the revolution and national independence.

Ambassador Sychaleun affirmed that the Lao Party, State and people will always remember the service and assistance Vietnam has provided during their past struggles and in today’s national construction.
