Deputy Defence Minister, Sen. Lieut. Gen. Nguyen Chi Vinh received Col. Patrick D. Reardon, the outgoing US Army Attaché, and Col. Earnest C. Lee, who will replace Reardon, in Hanoi on July 2.
Vinh praised Reardon for his contributions to promoting national defence cooperation between the two countries during his term of office in Vietnam.
He said he hopes Reardon, in the new position, will continue strengthening the Vietnam-US relations and bilateral defence ties in particular.
While welcoming Lee, Vinh said he hopes the new US Army Attaché will uphold the achievements made by the two countries, as well as bilateral defence ties in recent times, with a view to deepening Vietnam-US relations in an effective manner for mutual benefits.
He said the Vietnamese Defence Ministry is willing to create favourable conditions for Lee to fulfill his duties.
