The Czech Republic has attached great importance to strengthening traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam, say Czech leaders.

President Vaclav Klaus, Prime Minister Jan Ficsher, President of the Senate Premysl Sobotka and Chairman of the House of Representatives Miloslav Vlcek stated this while receiving Ambassador Vuong Thua Phong at separate meetings in Prague recently.

Czech leaders and Mr Phong expressed pleasure at the regular exchange of high-level visits and the expansion of economic and trade ties between the two countries.

They said the Czech Republic and Vietnam have also increased cooperation in national defence, security and cultural exchange, as well as working closely together in international arena.

They noted that despite the global financial and economic turmoil, the two countries have maintained a number of big cooperation projects, mostly in technical infrastructure construction in Vietnam.

The outgoing ambassador thanked the Czech leaders for supporting Vietnamese nationals in integrating into the local community and expressed his belief that the Vietnamese community will overcome difficulties for further development and contribute more to boosting bilateral relations.
