The northern province of Phu Tho and the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations on December 29 celebrated the 52nd anniversary of Victory Day of the Cuban Revolution.

The ceremony was attended by Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Fredesman Turro Gonzalez and representatives from the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Central Commission for External Affairs.

Addressing the event, Vice Chairman of the Phu Tho provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Ngoc Hai stressed that the event of January 1, 1959 was a milestone in the world revolution history, when Fidel Castro led the Cuban people to overthrow the Batista dictatorship and abolish neo-colonialism in Cuba.

Over the past five decades, Mr Hai said, Cuba has always supported and assisted Vietnam wholeheartedly. Phu Tho province alone has also received sincere and precious assistance from the Cuban people and revolution, which has improved the economy and lives of inhabitants in the province.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Gonzales thanked Vietnam for its support for Cuba, especially during the current difficulties. He also asserted the ties of friendship and cooperation between the two peoples are unbreakable.

The ambassador and his wife later offered incense to the temple of the Hung Kings.
