Journalist Marta Roza, deputy chairwoman of the Cuba-Vietnam Friendship Association has spoken highly of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV)’s guidelines on national development.

Marta Roza, who was the last foreign journalist to interview President Ho Chi Minh before his passing away, highly valued the achievements that Vietnam has made during the Doi Moi (renewal) process, especially in education and healthcare.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the Vietnamese Association in Cuba, Mai Thao, shared his wish that the 11th National Party Congress would pave the way for the country’s industrialisation and modernisation period.

“Since the 6th Party Congress held in 1986, under the clear-sighted leadership of the Party and sound management of the government, Vietnam has gained extremely great achievements in both internal and external affairs, raising the country’s position in the international arena and improving people’s lives,” he said.

In his opinion, the government should further support disadvantaged people in remote areas and increase investment in education and health care which are key to success in the future.

Currently the marketing director for Asia of Cuba’s Heber Biotec pharmaceuticals and biological products trading company, Mai Thao has actively contributed to promoting bilateral trade between Vietnam and Cuba.
