He also thanked senior Cuban leaders for their congratulatory letters and messages on the success of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the recent election of Vietnam’s 16th National Assembly.

The Vietnamese Government chief affirmed that in his new role, he will continue contributing to expanding and enhancing the effectiveness of the special friendship and cooperation between the two countries, commensurate with their cooperation potential, close relations and political trust.

In response, Ambassador Rogelio Polanco Fuentes congratulated PM Le Minh Hung on his new position and noted positive developments in bilateral ties, particularly the regular exchange of high-level delegations.

Notable visits included the State visit to Cuba by Party General Secretary and State President To Lam in September 2024 and the State visit to Vietnam by First Secretary and President Miguel Diaz-Canel in September 2025 on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s August Revolution and National Day.

He said cooperation in agriculture, justice and biotechnology has continued to expand, while joint projects on rice cultivation, fisheries and food production in Cuba have yielded  practical results.

The host leader reiterated that the Party, State and people of Vietnam always value the sincere and steadfast support Cuba has extended to Vietnam during its past struggle for national liberation as well as its current development efforts.

In the coming period, PM Hung said he hopes the two sides will continue strengthening the special Vietnam-Cuba relationship. He proposed close coordination in carrying out agreements reached by senior leaders, promoting delegation exchanges and long-term cooperation, and jointly organizing activities marking the 100th birth anniversary of Cuban leader Fidel Castro on August 13, 2026.

Hung also suggested enhancing cooperation mechanisms between the two governments, ministries and localities, while maintaining close coordination and mutual support at multilateral forums.

Agreeing with the Vietnamese PM’s remarks, Ambassador Rogelio Polanco Fuentes affirmed that Cuba always regards Vietnam as a close brotherly partner and comrade, as well as a model for national renewal and development.

He said Vietnam’s socio-economic achievements in recent years have inspired the Cuban people and expressed hope that the two countries would continue sharing experience, particularly lessons from Vietnam’s 40 years of Doi Moi (renewal) process.

He also asserted Cuba’s readiness to work closely with Vietnam to effectively implement high-level agreements and deepen practical cooperation in areas where both sides have strengths and demand, especially agriculture and biotechnology.
