The 80th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) was celebrated in provinces throughout the country on February 1 with the participation of local leaders, revolutionary veterans, heroic mothers and others.

In their speeches, local leaders reviewed the history of the CPV, founded and led by late President Ho Chi Minh. Under the CPV’s leadership, Vietnamese people have won one victory after another in the struggle for national independence and construction over the last 80 years.

*** During the two resistance wars against the French and US invaders, the northern province of Ha Nam mobilised thousands of young army recruits and thousands of tonnes of food for the frontline.

During the peace time, the provincial Party organisation has made the tremendous achievements in socio-economic development and national security.

*** Over the past few years, the Nam Dinh provincial Party organisation and the people have well implemented the “Studying and Following President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example” campaign. Nam Dinh is currently becoming an economic hub to the south of the Red River Delta. The province’s total GDP has increased by 10.2 percent, agricultural production value by 4.3 percent, industry-construction by 21.4 percent and service by 8.9 percent. The local economy has been restructured on the right track, helping to improve local people’s living standards with the number of poor households dropping to 6.7 percent.

*** In pursuit of the Doi Moi (Renewal) process, the Phu Tho provincial Party organisation is striving to become an industrial province by 2020 while continuing to renew its form of leadership and enhance the “Studying and Following President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example” campaign.

*** Over the past 80 years, the Ha Tinh provincial Party organisation and its people have greatly contributed to the country’s protection and construction.

From 1991-2010, the province’s food output has seen a two-fold increase and budget collection increased by more than 50 times over while the number of poor households fall by 30 percent.

*** The Quang Ngai provincial Party Organisation was established immediately after the establishment of the CPV. In the different revolutionary periods, the provincial Party organisation has led local people to great victories. During the Doi Moi process, the province has successfully built and put into operation the country’s first Dung Quat Oil refinery. It is striving to shed its underdeveloped status by the end of this year.

*** 25 years after implementing the Doi Moi process, the central province of Thua Thien Hue has hit an average economic growth rate of 11.2 percent with a per capita income of more than US$1,000, with budget collection reaching VND2,700 billion. The province continues to restructure the local economy towards industrialisation and modernization to improve people’s lives and narrow the gap between rich and poor in urban and rural areas. To mark the 80th anniversary of the CPV, the provincial Party organisation has presented the Party badge to 116 Party members. On the occasion, the Danang provincial Party Organisation also presented the Party badge to 407 Party members.

*** The Central Highlands province of Lam Dong has called on local people to make greater efforts to develop Lam Dong into a strong and rich province in the region. Diverse activities have been held in Lam Dong to mark the 80th anniversary of the CPV such as seminars on the CPV’s history together with dance and song performances.

Meanwhile, to mark the event, the Dong Thap provincial Party Committee has also presented the 60-year Party badge to 12 outstanding Party members.
