A high-ranking delegation led by Truong Tan Sang, Politburo member and permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat visited Sisavath Keobounphanh, former Politburo member and President of the Lao Front for National Construction (LFNC) on June 7 before ending its two-day mission in Laos.

Mr Sang said he was delighted to witness the rapid changes in Laos and wished the 9th Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and the election of the 7th National Assembly a great success.

Mr Keobounphanh praised Vietnam’s efforts to boost socio-economic development and improve people’s living standards.

Earlier, Mr Sang called at the Vietnamese Embassy in Vientiane. He said he hopes the Vietnamese Embassy and the Vietnamese community in Laos will act as a bridge to the development of time-honoured relations between the two countries.

Vietnamese ambassador Ta Minh Chau briefed Mr Sang of his embassy’s activities over the past few years, adding that the embassy is ready to create the best possible conditions for Vietnamese businesses to carry out more than 253 projects in Laos with a total capitalisation of US$3.2 billion.
