Costa Rica wishes for stronger co-operation with Vietnam

VOV.VN - Costa Rican President Rodrigo Chaves Robles expressed his nation’s willingness to boost all-around co-operation with Vietnam, particularly in economics, trade, education, and the environment.

While receiving credentials presented by Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba and Costa Rica Le Quang Long at the Costa Rican Presidential Palace, President Chaves expressed his special affection for Vietnam and congratulated the country on its significant socio-economic achievements recorded over recent years. Indeed, he previously visited Vietnam several times when he worked at the World Bank (WB).

President Chaves also showed his deep admiration for the Vietnamese spirit of resilience in its historic struggles, self-reliance, and proud achievements the country has made in its process of national construction and development. On this occasion, the Costa Rican President thanked Vietnam for supporting his nation’s interest in the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).

For his part, Ambassador Long felt honoured to take on this important role and conveyed greetings from President Luong Cuong, as well as his invitation to President Rodrigo Chaves to visit Vietnam at a convenient time.

The Ambassador noted his appreciation for the visit made by Costa Rican Minister of Foreign Trade Manuel Tovar to Vietnam in August and thanked Costa Rica for recognising Vietnam as a market economy.

Both sides boast significant potential for broader co-operation in areas such as agriculture, tourism, consumer goods manufacturing, and software industry, urging Costa Rican authorities to offer favourable conditions for Vietnamese investors, he added.
