Responding to a reporter's question about an article published by the Government’s portal on March 18, which quoted a representative from the US’ Meta group as saying that while over 90% of the US Agency for International Development (USAID)’s global aid programs have been cut, the war consequence mitigation program in Vietnam, supported by the US government, will continue, Hang emphasized, “Cooperation in addressing war consequences is considered a foundation of Vietnam-US relations. This cooperation plays a crucial role in reconciliation, healing, and building trust between the two countries, paving the way for broader cooperation in other key areas.”

“We understand that many joint projects between Vietnam and the US in this field are ongoing or being resumed, including programs for clearing unexploded ordnance and decontaminating Bien Hoa airport. The continued and effective implementation of these projects will contribute to strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership for peace, cooperation, and sustainable development between the two countries,” the spokesperson said.
