Consultative conference finalises list of 217 nominees for NA election
VOV.VN - All delegates attending the third consultative conference have agreed on a list of 217 nominees from central agencies and organisations who meet the requirements to stand for election to the 16th National Assembly.
The conference was held on the afternoon of February 11 by the Presidium of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, as part of the statutory consultation process to agree on and finalise the list of nominees from central agencies, organisations and units.
According to the agreement reached at the meeting, the number of nominees introduced by central-level agencies remains unchanged at 217.
Hoang Cong Thuy, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, said that all 217 nominees received 100% support from voters at their workplaces, and that no comments or issues requiring verification had been raised in connection with any of the nominees.
From February 4 to 8, the Standing Board of the Vietnam Fatherland Front at the commune level, in coordination with local People’s Committees, chaired voter consultation meetings at nominees’ places of residence. These meetings were held in 67 communes and wards across 17 centrally governed provinces and cities where the nominees reside.
The consultations at places of residence were conducted in a public, serious and democratic manner, in full compliance with legal requirements, procedures and timelines, Thuy said.
He added that among the 217 central-level nominees, 152 are incumbents seeking re-election to the next National Assembly term.
Following discussion and the collection of opinions, all delegates attending the conference reached unanimous agreement to complete the list of 217 nominees from central agencies and organisations who meet the statutory criteria to stand for election to the 16th National Assembly, in line with the Law on the Election of Deputies to the National Assembly and People’s Councils.
Concluding the conference, Bui Thi Minh Hoai, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, requested that the Standing Board closely coordinate with relevant bodies of the National Assembly to thoroughly review the nominee list, while ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all information.
She said nominees, particularly those holding leadership positions, are expected to be worthy of the trust placed in them by voters and of the consultation-based nomination by the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
Immediately after the conference, the Standing Board of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee will finalise the records and submit the list of 217 eligible nominees to the National Election Council of Vietnam and the Standing Committee of the National Assembly, in line with regulations. The National Election Council will then announce the official list of candidates for each electoral constituency nationwide.
Based on that list, Vietnam Fatherland Front committees at the provincial and commune levels will coordinate with local election councils to organise voter meetings, enabling nominees to meet voters in their constituencies and conduct election campaigning in accordance with the law.
