PM Dung made the request while attending a conference of the Ministry of Construction (MoC) to launch its plan for 2012.

At the conference, Mr Dung highlighted the ministry’s efforts to iron out snags and gain great achievements, contributing 10 percent of GDP.

He asked the sector to complete institutions for planning and improve the efficiency of construction works invested by public social resources, both by introducing regulations and by strengthening supervision and inspection.

The MoC should propose policies to realize the housing strategy nationwide, especially in Hanoi, HCM City and other major cities, he said, urging it to consider developing social housing as its political mission and expand good models of social house development.

The government leader also asked the MoC to create favourable conditions for developing construction businesses and boosting human resource training to meet the country’s demand.
