Construction of a new parliament house started in Ba Dinh district in central Hanoi on August 6.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, National Assembly (NA) Vice Chairman Nguyen Duc Kien emphasized the significance of the project, which he said will meet the all the requirements of NA agencies.
Mr Kien asked the builders to complete the project on schedule while ensuring its quality and meeting technical requirements.
A nine-storey building, worth almost VND1 trillion, will be built on an area of 14,929sqm to accommodate a conference hall and offices for a number of NA agencies and committees, according to the head of the NA Office’s Administration Department Dang Kim Son.
Funded by the State budget, the project is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2011.
