A national conference will be held on September 9-10 to review the operation of people’s councils and people’s committees at all levels, the Government’s Office has announced.

The conference will be jointly held by the Government and the National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee, the Government’s Office said.

It added that the Prime Minister has empowered the Minister of Home Affairs to coordinate with the NA Standing Committee and relevant agencies to prepare the conference’s agenda.

At this conference, the Government will present a report reviewing the organisation and performance of people’s committees at all levels in the 2004-2011 term and touching upon orientations and tasks of people’s committees in the new term.

The Government will also report about the pilot implementation of not organising people’s councils at districts and wards in 10 provinces and centrally-run cities.
