Compilation project on Vietnam-Laos relationship under review

(VOV) - A ceremony was held on October 19 in Hanoi to review the editing and publishing work completed on a compilation project about the history of the Vietnam-Laos special relationship between 1930 and 2007.

The ceremony was attended by State President Truong Tan Sang, Party Central Committee (PCC) Commission for Communication and Education Head Dinh The Huynh, and Lao Deputy Ambassador to Vietnam Ukhawn Seng Keomyxay.

The project, the biggest ever on the history of the Vietnam-Laos special relationship, was finished over four years. With its political, scientific, and historic value, it has made practical contributions to raising the public awareness and understanding of the time-honoured relationship.

In his speech, President Sang praised the efforts made by the relevant agencies in fulfilling the project’s aims. He noted its great significance to the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the 35th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship and Cooperation Treaty.

The relationship between the two Parties, states, and peoples of Laos and Vietnam is a pure, faithful, and internationally exemplary one.

Over the past 80 years, the special relationship has served as an endless source of strength, helping both countries record tremendous achievements in national development. Sang emphasised the relationship remains an invaluable asset that must be preserved and nurtured in the future.

The same day, President Sang received a delegation from the Lao Front for National Construction (LFNC) Central Committee led by its President Phan Duong Chit Vongsa.

Sang said he hopes effective cooperation between the LFNC and the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) will make contribution to strengthening the traditional friendship between the two countries.

The LFNC Chairman stressed that Vietnam’s theory and practice will be helpful for his delegation members to apply in Laos’ party building.

He also pledged to do his utmost to contribute to boosting cooperation between the LFNC and VFF as well as the solidarity between the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), and the two States and peoples.

The same day, the Lao delegation had a working session with a high-ranking delegation from the CPV Central Committee’s Mass Mobilisation Commission, led by its head, Ha Thi Khiet, who is also a Secretary of the CPV Central Committee.

The two sides informed each other of the situation of their respective Party and country and shared experience in mass mobilization work.
