Communist Party of Switzerland expresses confidence in Vietnam’s development
VOV.VN - Massimiliano Ay, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Switzerland, has sent congratulations after To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, was elected by the National Assembly as President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; Le Minh Hung was elected Prime Minister; and Tran Thanh Man was elected Chairman of the National Assembly.
Speaking to the press in Switzerland, Ay said he follows major political developments of the Communist Party of Vietnam as well as the country’s socio-economic development. He said: “First of all, I would like to congratulate the Communist Party of Vietnam on successfully organising the recent National Assembly election. I know this was a very successful event. For us, understanding the resolutions adopted by your Party is important because Vietnam is on the path of building socialism. Vietnam gives us more lessons and experience. As for Comrade To Lam, who was elected General Secretary and then President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, this shows a high level of trust. I think you are doing very well, as the General Secretary holding the position of State President also shows unity between policies for national development and the Party’s leadership role.”
In the interview conducted in Bellinzona, Ay also outlined activities of the Communist Party of Switzerland in the first three months of the year, particularly programmes expressing support for Cuba. He said solidarity activities between Swiss youth and the Cuban revolution have brought good results, and expressed hope to work with relevant units to introduce Vietnam’s experience in building socialism in Switzerland.
He said: “From this perspective, we think the Communist Party of Switzerland can organise activities similar to those introducing other socialist countries, especially Vietnam, because Vietnam is a socialist country that is not widely known among Swiss youth. However, Vietnam’s social and economic systems can be a good example. Through different information channels, we can see Vietnam’s economic achievements on its path of building socialism. If we can organise activities to introduce your country in Switzerland, we can show Swiss youth that socialism does not mean poverty. It is also possible to build socialism following Vietnam’s example, and I hope we can organise such activities in schools in the near future.
