China considers the development of relations with Vietnam one of its priorities in its diplomatic policies with neighboring countries, said Chinese ambassador to Vietnam, Sun Quoqiang, at a reception for Vietnamese leaders and representatives from international organizations in Hanoi on September 28 to mark the 61st anniversary of China’s National Day (October 1, 1949-October 1, 2010).  

At the reception, Ambassador Quoqiang said that 2010 is the year in which both countries celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between them and Vietnam-China Friendship Year. He added that both nations continue to achieve important and comprehensive developments that will bring practical benefits to the people of the two countries.

The Chinese ambassador affirmed that strengthening friendship, trust and development for mutual benefit is the common aspiration of peoples in the two countries.

Addressing the reception, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Khiem congratulated Chinese people on their National Day as well as for their major achievements in national construction, especially in the 30-year renovation process. He expressed the belief that the development of China will offer many opportunities for cooperation between China and Vietnam with other countries for the common benefit of the region and the world.

Mr Khiem emphasised that Vietnam and China are two friendly neighbouring countries. Over the past years, with efforts have made by both sides and the comprehensive partnership and cooperation between the two parties and states has developed strongly under the "16-word" motto (Friendly neighbourliness, comprehensive co-operation, durable stability and future-oriented vision) and the "four-good" spirits (Good neighbours, good friends, good comrades and good partners). The meeting between senior officials from both countries has contributed to strengthening political trust, defining orientations and giving fresh impetus to promote cooperation between the two countries in many fields, particularly economics, trade, investment, tourism, education, science and technology.

The Deputy PM said that the Protocol on border demarcation and landmark planting, the agreement on border management regulations; and the agreement on border-gates and their regulations has laid a solid legal foundation to promote a border for peace, friendship, cooperation and development and will build trust in both nations to resolve their issues on the sea.

Mr Khiem affirmed that the Vietnamese Party, Government and people treasured the traditional friendship with China and will do their best to strengthen mutual understanding and trust between the two parties, nations and peoples. He expressed his wish that both nations will strive to develop strong comprehensive relations for the benefit of both peoples for peace, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
