China, Vietnam negotiate Tonkin Gulf area
Vietnam and China have agreed to speed up negotiations of the delineation of the sea area outside the Bac Bo (Tonkin) Gulf mouth and cooperation for mutual development.
The agreement was released by Vietnamese and Chinese experts at their first round of negotiation in Hanoi on May 21-22.
In the friendly, frank and constructive atmosphere, both sides expressed their viewpoints on related issues, based on the Vietnam-China agreement basic principles guiding the settlement of sea-related issues, signed in October 2011.
They agreed to conduct negotiations twice a year, with the second round due to take place in the second half of this year.
