Chilean Deputy Foreign Minister Alberto Van Klaveren and permanent Deputy FM of Vietnam, Pham Binh Minh, have held talks and political consultations between their two foreign ministries.

During his Vietnam visit from August 23-25, the Chilean diplomat had working sessions with Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Huu Hao and Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Tien Tho.

At the meetings, Deputy FM Alberto Van Klavaren affirmed that Chile always attaches importance to developing ties with Vietnam.

The two sides informed each other of their foreign relations activities and reviewed the implementation of the joint agreements between the two countries and two foreign ministries.

They shared the same view on the need to develop the friendship and all-round cooperation between Vietnam and Chile and discussed measures to strengthen economic and trade ties.

Host and guest affirmed their determination to build “comprehensive partnership relations” between the two countries in line with the high-level agreements reached during Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh’s visit to Chile in May 2007.

They also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern.
