Ceremony in Brazil honours historic role of Communist Party of Vietnam

VOV.VN - Amid celebrations marking the successful conclusion of the 14th National Party Congress and preparations for the Lunar New Year, the Embassy of Vietnam in Brazil recently solemnly held a ceremony in Brasilia to mark the 96th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV).

In his speech, Ambassador Bui Van Nghi stressed that this year’s 96th anniversary of the Party’s founding carries profound significance for the Party, the State and the people of Vietnam. He said the occasion also offers an opportunity to share with international friends, including Brazilian partners and friends, the Party’s role in Vietnam’s revolution and national development over the years, while helping them better understand the Party’s development vision, strategic orientation and political determination, as well as that of the Vietnamese nation, in the new phase following the 14th National Party Congress.

Ambassador Bui Van Nghi reviewed notable achievements in implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress for the 2021-2025 term. Accordingly, macroeconomic stability has continued to be maintained, average GDP growth reached about 6.3% per year, GDP size exceeded US$510 billion in 2025, per capita income surpassed US$5,000, and the economic structure has shifted towards modernisation.

He emphasised that the recently concluded 14th National Party Congress represents a politically decisive milestone, opening what he described as a “new era of national rise” for Vietnam.

The ambassador said the congress elected a new Central Committee and that To Lam was re-elected with absolute confidence as General Secretary. The congress set the goal of turning Vietnam into a developing country with modern industry and upper-middle income by 2030, with a vision of becoming a developed, high-income country by 2045. It also set a target of around 10% annual GDP growth for the 2026–2030 period and projected per capita GDP of about US$8,500 by 2030.

Regarding foreign affairs, the diplomat  affirmed that Vietnam will continue pursuing an independent and self-reliant foreign policy, acting as a trusted friend and responsible partner of the international community, and seeks to expand substantive cooperation with Latin American countries, including Brazil, for the practical benefit of their peoples.

Delivering a congratulatory address, Luciana Santos, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation and President of the Communist Party of Brazil, praised the success of the 14th National Party Congress of Vietnam, highlighting it as a particularly important political milestone that clearly demonstrates unity, strength and the Party’s leadership in the cause of building socialism.

Luciana Santos said that with a 96-year history of development and growth and more than 5.6 million members, the Communist Party of Vietnam is viewed by the Communist Party of Brazil (PCdoB - Partido Comunista do Brasil) as a symbol of revolutionary heroism, anti-imperialism and independent, self-reliant and steadfast development.

She expressed that the 14th National Party Congress has set out ambitious strategic goals for the 2030-2045 period, associated with high economic growth and the development of a prosperous and strong country. She also underlined that the friendship, solidarity and strong cooperation between the CPV and the PCdoB   serve as an important pillar in strengthening political trust and solidarity between the two nations.
