Participants highlighted the time-honoured relationship between the Vietnamese and Lao Parties, States and peoples and mutual support during their past struggles for national independence and freedom.

The two countries have helped each other to ensure national defence and security and have created peaceful borderlines to promote cooperation and development on both sides.

A variety of musical and dance performances by Vietnamese and Lao artists took place during the exchange to honour the two countries' fruitful bilateral ties.

The event is one of the activities to commemorate the friendship year between the two countries, as well as the 50^th anniversary of their diplomatic ties and the 35^th anniversary of signing the Vietnam-Laos Friendship and Cooperation Treaty.
