At a meeting was held in Hanoi on January 4 to review the three-year implementation of the campaign, Party leader Nong Duc Manh highlighted the exemplary role played by cadres and Party members in making the campaign more substantive and effective to select capable and moral cadres for Party organisations.

The Party leader also called on the whole Party and people to continue properly implementing the campaign in 2010 towards the 11^th National Party Congress by reinforcing the Party’s combative strength and keeping the Party clean and powerful to meet the requirements of the Doi Moi (Renewal) process and people’s aspirations.

According to a report on the implementation of the campaign, more than 90 percent of cadres and Party members from localities across the country took part in the campaign in 2009. Diverse activities were launched in various localities in response to this campaign such as organised round-table discussions, singing and dancing performances and story-telling about the implementation of Ho Chi Minh’s testament.

By the end of December, most provinces, cities and Party organisations successfully organised conferences to honour outstanding collectives and individuals who have recorded achievements in the campaign.

In his speech at the meeting, Party leader Nong Duc Manh praised the Party organizations at all levels for implementing the campaign effectively through practical measures to cope with global economic downturn, curbing inflation, ensuring social welfare, practicing thrift and combating corruption, wastefulness and bureaucracy.

The Party Central Committee’s Steering Board for the campaign has decided to hold a congress in Hanoi on January 25 to further review its activities in 2009 and set tasks for 2010.
