Cambodian PM hopeful of stronger trade ties with Vietnam

VOV.VN - Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his desire to expand trade ties between Cambodia and Vietnam while receiving newly-appointed Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyen Huy Tang on November 24.

PM Hun Sen went on to suggest that both sides strive to promote their trade links towards a bilateral agreement on agriculture, especially agricultural production occurring in border areas.

Despite the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, trade ties between the two countries has been successfully maintained and has even recorded significant growth, he said, before requested that the two countries resume direct air routes in the near future.

In response, Ambassador Tang congratulated Cambodia on its various development achievements, including its successes in the COVID-19 vaccine rollout, whilst thanking the country for presenting medical supplies and vaccines to Vietnam.

The Ambassador therefore pledged his best efforts to augment co-operation between the two countries, particularly in terms of politics, diplomacy, national defence, trade, economics, agriculture, and COVID-19 combat, among other things.  He also conveyed regards from numerous Vietnamese leaders to PM Hun Sen.
