Cambodian media spotlight opportunity to boost ties during President To Lam's visit

Newspapers have all highlighted the visit as being an opportunity to strengthen bilateral and multilateral ties between the two countries.
Ahead of President To Lam's state visit to Cambodia, many local media agencies such as ThmeyThmey online newspaper, Cambodian News Agency (AKP), Cambodian National Television (TVK), and the homepage of the Cambodian Ministry of Information simultaneously posted a biography of the Vietnamese State leader, as well as information about the visit and schedule of activities during the visit.
In the news published on July 10, the Cambodian News Agency AKP quoted a source from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia as saying that the Vietnamese President will pay a state visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia from July 12 to July 13 at the invitation of King Norodom Sihamoni.
As planned, President To Lam is set to meet with Cambodian King Sihamoni and Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk at the Royal Palace. In addition, the Vietnamese leader will hold separate meetings with Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen, National Assembly Chairman Khuon Sudary, and Prime Minister of the Royal Government of Cambodia Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet.
According to information given by Cambodian media, the content of high-level meetings during the visit covers co-operative activities within the bilateral and multilateral framework, in the spirit of good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, and comprehensive ties that exist for the benefit of both nations’ people.
During the course of the visit, the Vietnamese President will lay a wreath at the Independence Monument, the Monument of the late King Norodom Sihanouk, and the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Monument in Phnom Penh.
Also reporting on President To Lam's visit to Cambodia, online newspaper ThmeyThmey cited sources from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, emphasizing that this is the first visit to the neighbouring by the new President of Vietnam.
According to details set out in the article, along with Cuba, both Laos and Cambodia are countries with which the nation promotes special relations with. Local media said that the special relationship is one of traditional friendship and comprehensive co-operation throughout history.
