Receiving a Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) delegation in Phnom Penh on November 29, Heng Samrin thanked the Vietnamese leaders and people for their heartfelt support and valuable assistance to Cambodia in its past struggle for national liberation and the current cause of national construction and development.
He also thanked Vietnam for having cemented the traditional friendship, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation with Cambodia for mutual benefits and for peace and stability in the region and the world at large.
Heng Samrin, who is also President of the National Council of Solidarity Front for the Development of Cambodia’s Motherland, appreciated the VFF for its fruitful cooperation with the Cambodian council, and said the two bodies should work closer together to contribute to stronger Cambodia-Vietnam relations.
He welcomed the delegation to a conference to be held in Phnom Penh that brings together the presidents of the fatherland fronts of Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam aimed at building borderlines of peace, friendship and cooperation between the three countries.
VFF president Huynh Dam, who is leading the Vietnamese delegation, presented gifts worth VND300 million to help Cambodian people affected by the recent floods.
During their official visit from November 28 to December 2, the VFF delegation is scheduled to pay a courtesy visit to King Norodom Sihamoni, Prime Minister Hunsen and President of the Cambodia People’s Party (CPP) Chea Sim as well as other senior officials.
The delegation will also attend a ceremony to mark the 33rd anniversary of the Solidarity Front for the Development of Cambodia’s Motherland.
